Job Purpose:

The position will be responsible for planning, developing, and leading the implementation of innovative, growth-oriented commercial strategies to ensure profitable business growth and achieve long-term commercial success.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning and Growth:
    • Participate in the corporate strategic planning process, having full knowledge of the marketplace and commercial environment, and provide guidance with respect to commercial growth.
    • Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with the overall company goals and objectives, aiming to accelerate revenue growth across all sales channels and product categories.
  • Sales Management:
    • Manage profitability through the achievement of targets, pricing decisions, and the development and control of budgets.
    • Develop and implement pricing strategies that drive sales volume while protecting margins, brand market share, and profitability targets. Establish and enforce appropriate sales and marketing policies and procedures to ensure effective customer service and protect the brand’s interests.
  • Marketing and Business Development:
    • Lead the development and execution of the marketing and communication strategy and product strategies.
    • Lead the development and implementation of the company’s sales and business development strategy across key channels and product lines.
    • Establish and maintain long-term, profitable partnerships with key stakeholders and originate and manage business development opportunities consistent with the company’s strategy for revenue growth.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Contribute to creating a healthy and positive work environment for all by ensuring adequate cross-functional collaboration and adherence to all brand policies and procedures, including compliance with relevant legislative and legal requirements.
    • Drive a high-performance culture within the commercial unit from recruitment to managing and coaching the team and providing quality feedback. Set priorities and hold the team accountable with clear objectives and KPIs.
    • Effectively manage employee development through the performance review processes for all direct reports and establish individual development plans for each team member. Identify and develop talent.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Define commercial dashboards, track and analyze performance of commercial activities, and lead the reporting of key metrics to the senior management team.
    • Provide detailed monthly reporting on sales activity, customer service levels, and retention rates to inform business reviews and assist with setting, managing, and monitoring financial targets, budget development, and forecasting plans.

  • Business development: Expansion into new markets and quality services to the existing clientele.
  • Relationship Management: High level of client/customer retention and improved client/customer relations.
  • Budget Management: Annual commercial budget preparation, monitoring, and review.
  • Reporting: Efficient management reports and Commercial dashboards to facilitate informed decision making.
  • People & Team Management: A highly engaged Commercial team that meets the desired performance standards. Cross-functional influence of other teams.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree, preferably in business or a related field.
  • Member of a relevant professional body.
  • At least ten (10) years’ experience in commercial management.
  • Proven experience in lubricants sales.
  • Hands-on experience in business plan execution and designing commercial strategies.
